Calibre Defence is a news outlet providing high quality coverage of events occurring in the global defence industry and modern warfare.

Calibre Defence is a news and consulting organisation based in the UK providing coverage of defence news from around the world. The editor and author is me, Sam Cranny-Evans. I am an associate fellow at the Royal United Services Institute, and have previously worked at the Janes Information Group as editor of the Armoured Fighting Vehicles year books and journalist. I started Calibre to provide the type of news and analysis that I think the world needs; balanced analysis combined with technical insights. I want to write articles that are interesting and detailed, that provide the information we need to understand a topic in a way that is easy to understand.

Alongside news, I provide consulting on the defence industry through my own knowledge and by coordinating my fellow network of researchers. I personally have a rich understanding of land warfare and the technologies that are shaping modern conflict. I have worked on the role that AI and hypersonic missiles will play in future wars, whilst also examining the important elements of Cold War armoured fighting vehicles on a battlefield seemingly dominated by drones.
